Dallas Brodie’s Abbotsford-Mission unity challenge has moved from a principled statement to a measurable test. Black Press now reports CentreBC has named a candidate in the by-election, even after Brodie said OneBC would not run and urged other centre-right vehicles to clear the lane.

Mission City Record / Black Press reported on August 30 that CentreBC announced Lakhwinder Jhaj as its candidate for the September 26 Abbotsford-Mission by-election, joining BC Conservative leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay and BC NDP candidate Pam Alexis in the race.

Elections BC’s by-election page says final voting day is September 26, advance voting runs September 18 to 23, and candidate nominations close at 1 p.m. on September 5. Elections BC also says candidates will be listed on its page once they are confirmed.

Dallas Brodie’s August 29 statement remains the key OneBC source: she said OneBC would not run a candidate and publicly urged CentreBC and the still-forming Milobar party not to run against Findlay.
